We offer individually tailored programs depending on your needs and goals. We see ALL patients with or without insurance (including those with Medicare & Medicaid). Please note, however, that Wildwood Functional Medicine does NOT bill insurance for clinical visits. Depending on your insurance plan, you may be able to submit invoices to your insurance carrier for reimbursement (Medicare will NOT reimburse for visits). We do order lab tests to be covered by insurance (including Medicare) as appropriate.
The first step in determining whether we might be a good fit to work together is to complete an Application for Consultation.

CONVENTIONAL LAB TESTING:
This includes many “standard” blood tests, assessed through a functional lens, plus additional labs to identify overt or early signs of imbalance. Many conventional blood tests are likely to be covered, at least in part, by insurance. If you have a high deductible, do not have insurance, or wish to pay cash for any other reason, we have access to a reputable lab that negotiates significantly lower, transparent cash prices for patients.
FUNCTIONAL LAB TESTING:
Depending on your health goals, we offer a unique, investigative toolset to evaluate your body’s current state of function (or dysfunction) and to identify root causes of imbalance. This approach allows us to best direct therapeutic treatment plans, rather than guessing or simply suppressing symptoms.
Available tools include:
Many insurance plans will cover portions (or even all) of some functional lab tests. but these tests will almost always involve at least some out-of-pocket costs, typically ranging from $300 to $1500, depending on the complexity of your case.

Available tools include:
- Nutrient assessment – Urine organic acids testing (OAT) evaluates cellular metabolic function with regard to nutrient status & conversion, energy production, intestinal health, neurotransmitter activity, and detoxification status. This is the laboratory we recommend most often and includes not only urine organic acids, but it also includes blood assessments of fatty acids, amino acids, minerals, and oxidative stress. This is another laboratory we may recommend as a stand alone OAT.
- Comprehensive stool analysis – Evaluates gut health and the microbiome, including good and bad bacteria, the presence of yeast and parasites, markers of inflammation, digestive enzymes, and a number of other markers. We mainly recommend one of these these two laboratories.
- Immune sensitivity testing (ELISA-ACT) – If needed or desired, this Lymphocyte Response Assay (LRA) examines blood for immune cell reactions to foods or other substances.
- DUTCH hormone testing – Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones. Evaluates stress and sex hormones.
- Advanced cardiometabolic testing – Specialized blood tests as needed
- Heavy metal testing – If needed, may examine blood, urine, and/or hair samples for heavy metal toxicity
- Genetic reports (starts with “23andMe”) – Can be helpful, but for better or worse, our genes are not necessarily our destiny!
- And more…

RECLAIM YOUR HEALTH
A word on insurance and why we are "out-of-network"
Our current insurance based, conventional health care system is undeniably important for acute care, and it saves lives. It covers basic health screening and disease management, drives key public health initiatives, and it connects people to important social services.
Primary care physicians are some of the most caring, hard working people on the front lines, but many find themselves working in a broken system that can feel more like "damage control" than truly getting people healthy and well. Our insurance based "health care" system is really more of a "sick care" system, driving rushed clinic visits focused on drugs and procedures to suppress symptoms and “manage” diseases, creating "patients for life," rather than investing time and resources to dig deep and get to the root so that you can GET WELL and STAY WELL.
Insurance companies dictate how doctors spend time with patients and what services are covered. Doctors are forced to spend more time checking boxes and looking at computer screens than they actually spend focusing on the patient.
At Wildwood Functional Medicine, our focus will be on YOU, rather than insurance companies.
